speakON (Neutrik)
Locking speaker-level audio connector for amplifier-to-speaker connections.
Types
- NL2: 2-pole (single channel)
- NL4: 4-pole (bi-amp capable, most common)
- NL8: 8-pole (quad-amp)
Common Uses in AV
- Powered and passive speaker connections
- Amplifier outputs to speaker cabinets
- Subwoofer connections
Key Considerations
- Locking twist connector — will not accidentally disconnect
- NL4 is the standard — even for single-channel, use NL4 for compatibility
- Pins 1+/1− = Channel 1, Pins 2+/2− = Channel 2
- Never use for line-level audio — speaker level only
- Wire gauge: minimum 14 AWG for runs under 15m, 12 AWG for longer
