PJLink

PJLink is JBMIA's standard IP control protocol for projectors and displays. It is not a media transport; it is the common command-and-status layer that lets a controller or monitoring system handle baseline functions such as power, input selection, health/error queries, AV mute/shutter behavior, lamp/light-source/filter runtime, input/resolution metadata, and error status across mixed-vendor display estates. The practical firewall point is simple: PJLink mostly lives on port 4352, with TCP for command sessions and UDP for Class 2 discovery/notification behavior.

Infrastructure Requirements

  1. IP reachability to each endpoint
  2. TCP 4352 for command/query sessions
  3. UDP 4352 for Class 2 search and status-notification functions
  4. password coordination if security is enabled
  5. a pre-registered controller IP if using Class 2 status notification
  6. controller logic that understands Class 1 vs Class 2 behavior, the actual implemented-command list of the target device, and the fact that PJLink authentication is not the same thing as a fully encrypted management session

PJLink Class 2 search

Search uses local broadcast or link-local IPv6 multicast. The controller and displays listen on UDP 4352 for this exchange.
