Clearport/VISCA over IP

VISCA over IP

VISCA over IP is the LAN-carried form of Sony's camera-control protocol. In AV practice it is a low-overhead PTZ command path for pan, tilt, zoom, focus, presets, tally, and related inquiries between cameras, joysticks, room-control processors, and automation/control software. Sony's published implementation is UDP over IPv4 on port 52381; TCP variants and alternate ports exist in the market, but those are implementation details, not a neutral standards-body baseline. Schedule it as a local camera-control service, not as video transport, discovery, web administration, or conferencing far-end camera control.

Infrastructure Requirements

  1. Match the camera/controller command set, enabled protocol and configured port. Sony ILME-FR7/FR7K uses IPv4/UDP
  2. the PTZOptics and Crestron TCP modes are separate implementations. Confirm firmware support, authentication/access restrictions and any controller count limit in the selected camera guide.

Gotchas & IT Notes

  • ⚠Select only the deployed vendor and transport. Reusing VISCA command names does not guarantee identical framing or features.
  • ⚠Sony setup broadcast UDP52380 is a commissioning service, separate from operational camera control.
  • ⚠These rows carry camera commands and replies. Video streams, web management and firmware services require separate entries.
