SMPTE ST 2022-6 / ST 2022-7
ST 2022-6 transports a complete high-bit-rate SDI signal over RTP. ST 2022-7 provides seamless protection by sending redundant RTP streams on diverse paths; it is a redundancy method, not a codec or fixed port.
Scope: SMPTE ST 2022-6 / ST 2022-7 — requirements depend on the selected profile.

Infrastructure Requirements
- Capacity for configured SDI-over-IP streams
- selected media addresses and ports
- for ST 2022-7, redundant paths and a receiver with sufficient reconstruction tolerance.

Physical, link and configuration requirements
configuration · Optional · ST 2022-7
Provide redundant copies with identical RTP headers and payloads, within the receiver’s differential-delay tolerance.
ST 2022-7 redundancy
Plan each path and receiver class. Diverse paths reduce common failures; ST 2022-7 is separate from forward-error correction.
Gotchas & IT Notes
- ⚠ST 2022-6 transports the complete SDI payload; ST 2110 uses separate essence streams.
- ⚠ST 2022-7 requires matching RTP copies and sufficient delay tolerance; it does not replace capacity planning.
